Myanmar – The Beginning

I’m back home! I spent the last three weeks in beautiful Myanmar and enjoyed a new era on my photo journey – photographing people! And besides the conditions burmese people live on they are always smiling and cheerful when meeting a foreigner.

In the first morning out in Yangon the weather reminded me that I sould have brought a raincoat with me. But in Yangon life never stops and after all rain brings other photographic opportunities.

One of my focus on this trip was to capture the essence of buddhism in Myanmar. This will be shown throughout the blog posts. The first pagoda that I visited was Sule Paya, located in the middle of a roundabout!

Buddhists get really focused when praying and meditating. I spent some time looking at this woman and this image was taken a few moments after she opened her eyes which seem deeply immersed on a methaphysical state.

I like markets but I even like them more at dusk when all the lights are on and a certain mood is in the air. This market sells only food and starts almost at dusk when local people buy their dinner ingredients. All the goods look pretty fresh, even the frogs!
