Dating from the late 1950′s this wood quay in Carrasqueira, Sado Estuary natural reserve, is unique in Europe.
Built from uneven wooden stakes, this quay is still in use today by local fishermen. Locals use to say the stakes are both buried in the water or the mud, depending on the tides. I must say some are really fragile and the calm waves can shake the place quite a bit. From the first image, you can guess the fragility of it!
The following images were taken on two different days, months apart. All with tripod, and most of them with a neutral density filter. A few images also have some extra light where I used a LED lantern to give some punch to the left boat.
