Gear

Some say the gear doesn’t make the photo. I say it is true, but in certain conditions, it helps. Nothing can override your eyes and compositional skills and no great camera/lens will turn a mediocre image into a great one. But you also won’t be able to photograph a night market with a camera developed a few years ago. Cameras and lenses are just tools, and one has to think about what’s best for their image goals. That said, there are always compromises, so don’t dispair and don’t change your gear unless you’re 100% sure you’ve taken everything out of it.

My first digital camera was a Kodak bridge, but those days are long gone. When I jumped to the dslr market, I bought my first Canon, because at the time they had a broader lenses offer. Since then, I’ve changed cameras and lenses, but not brands.
